Character Rules
Ranks:
Every mage is ranked from D to S. These classes vary in strength but are all obtainable for anyone, except S class. Mages can rank up by completing examinations set up by either admin/mods or their very own guild masters. The exams are mostly specialized for your character, unless a reason is given. Examples of each class are given to give you a good place to work from. All mages start at class D except for certain cases where an admin approves. There is no rule that says you have to level up if you don't want to.
D Class- "Its a start"
D class mages are at the bottom of the totem pole. These are the types of mages that are either just learning magic, just joining a guild, or just coming of age to wield magic on jobs and fights. They can master up to four spell all of the D class. It takes up to four D class attacks to defeat a D class mage. D class mages tend to level up quickly if they are continuing to do jobs. An example from the anime/manga of a D class mage is Romeo Conbolt after the time skip. Hopefully you will level up, unlike him. D class jobs tend to be things anywhere from delivering a letter or fighting a vulcan or two.
C Class- "Getting there"
C class mages are the rank of an average mage. Most mages that fall into the background fall into this category. These mages are starting to grasp the basis of their magic and are using it efficiently. They can master up to five spells and 3 of them are allowed to be C class. Like all upgrades, you can turn up to three D class spells into C class ones. It takes four C class attacks to defeat a C class one. A D class spell is about half of the power of a C one. C class mages level up relatively fast if they wish to do so. An example of a C class mage in the anime/manga is Max post time skip. C class mages tend to be foot soldiers or part of small teams in a large fight.
B Class- "Almost"
This is where most mages tend to be. Mages in this category are pretty strong but not enough so to fall into the big leagues. These mages are pretty confident in the skills of their magic, but not enough so to go chasing gods or anything like that. They can master up to six spells and 4 of them can be B class, the rest can be C class. One C class spell is about the power of half of a B class. It takes four B class spells to down a B classed mage. B class take a little bit to reach A class, but if you train regularly, it is no problem. B class mages tend to be part of the main teams the show follows and can be just about anywhere on the battlefield. An example of a B class mage from the show is Lucy Heartfelia.
A Class- "Nice Strength"
This is where the show's main characters reside. The mages in this category are the class below an ace status. They are very skilled in their magic and usually know much about it. These mages can master up to 7 seven spells and they can all be A class. This is the only upgrade where all of your spells automatically upgrade straight to A upon level up. It takes four A class attacks to down an A class mage. One A class spell is equal to two B class spells. A class mages take awhile to get to S and can only upgrade to S if an Ace slot is available. A rank mages are the ones you definitely fighting on the front lines and doing the most important jobs.
S Class- "Really Powerful"
The S class is currently the most powerful class around. They are the greatest mages that the world has to offer. These mages can master up to 9 nine spells which are all automatically S class. It takes eight A class attacks to down an S class mage. One S class spell is equal to two A class ones. S class can only be obtained by the Aces of the guild. Each guild has 2 aces and a guild master slot to start, but can gain more as time goes on. S class mages are the people you want leading a battle, by themselves.
